Noisy engine 700 1989

We posted at almost the exact same time. See my long post about the clearances.

Regarding the piston slap noises. Mine will do it to varying degrees when cold in the morning. She really hates to idle for long periods too, and will clatter like a sack of bones when forced to do that. I mean when waiting for someone and it is very cold at night, and I start her up to run the heater for a few minutes.

What you don't want is strong, solid, hard, regular knocking noises from the bottom of the engine. That is shot bearings.
