SU carb swap 140-160

The '71 144 currently has SU HIF6 carbs on it that need to be rebuilt. I have a spare set of SU HS6 carbs and manifold that I want to install while I'm getting the others rebuilt. How hard is it to modify the dual throttle cable setup on the HS6 carbs to the single cable setup that the HIF6 has? WHo has done this and can you provide me with instructions? I want to leave the single cable on for ease of install when I get the HIF6 carbs back.
