Volvo sound system compatibility 700

I'm getting to the stage of re-installing the dash components back into the 780, and I am looking over the amplifier and speaker system in the car, which are in superb condition(as is the radio and graphic equalizer except for the cassette player). Can the system from the amplifiers back be used with a new radio/entertainment system or were they OEMed for Volvo systems only? I'm thinking of replacing the entire panel with a brushed stainless one and installing a new Alpine(or similar)IVA-W505 when that time comes.
