air vents 700 1991

I have a '91 740 Turbo with a very annoying air flow problem. When the vent selector is set to "floor", half the air comes out of the defroster on the driver's side, blowing hot air into my face as I drive. I have had to cover the opening with my winter gloves to stop that. When I set the flow to the "dot" at half-way between "floor" and "defrost" the air doesn't blow so much into my face, but then my feet get cold as there isn't enough air blowing to the floor.

I removed the kick panel under the driver's side but I couldn't see where the valves for the air vent flaps were located. Does anyone have diagram of all the valve locations?

The other problem with the system is whenever I accelerate, the volume of air diminishes immediately. As I back off the gas pedal, the flow resumes normally. Is this "normal"?

Would it help to say that before I bought my Red Rocket, the previous owner had an accident on the passenger's side? Could something have been knocked out of place?
