StrangeVIN number - a problem? 700 1989

I'm seriously interested in a 1989 745GL listed on Ebay, if it comes in at an affordable price. The main issue is that the VIN nmber doesn't seem to jibe with the decoder in the FAQ. The VIN as shown in the ad on Ebay is 1P4GH44R6NX102534. Is this a totally wrong number? A European car brought stateside? Or is there another explanation? I have about a day-and-a half to decide on the bid. Any informed opininons are welcome. I've been "lurking" on the list for quute a while, and driven Volvos, but this would be my first purchase, and I don't want to make a stupid mistake.
