Seek info on differences of early (Smiths) Tachometers...two-piece, with sensor mounted in front of radiator,,,or one-piece, internal sensor. 1800

Forum;

I am compiling info...this time to do a revision on the Smiths Tach Article here: http://sw-em.com/Smith's%20Tachometer.htm ...to add more detail, which it clearly could use...

Does anyone have an (early) style tach (dead or alive) which had the seperate sensor of which they can supply pix (back for hook-ups and internals if possible)...also can someone supply details on the two piece style: Exactly what was in the seperate sensor (it looks, from the four connections indicated in the wiring diagram here: http://volvo1800pictures.com/document/Service_manual_jack/part_3_electrical_system_p1800/part_3_electrical_system_p1800.pdf , that it could have been JUST the input transformer shown in the circuit.)

Better yet can anyone supply a sample (dead or alive) they could supply for an investigation...or maybe pix of the internals?

TIA for responses!
