Hi Scott,

I did not find anything built up in the tank (which had a hole the size of my head!), just the normal brown staining. The pickup screen is packed though, and the rubber,(vibration?), coupling is split. I would remove the pump and replace the screen and the rubber if needed. While you have it out you could put a new pump on, as they are not that expensive.
