StrangeVIN number - a problem? 700 1989

It's totally wrong. Plymouth grand voyager VIN.

Something is up, for sure. Since eBay dropped insertion fees for vehicles, I've seen a huge increase in the amount of bad listings. This may be a legitimate listing, but I have no idea how someone would get the wrong VIN in the ad. It's not like they made a typo either.

At minimum, be very careful. I found one person who had listed a number of high end vehicles, but the listings had inconsistencies. When I ran the VINs from the suspect listings, I found a couple of small issues, like the year being one year off, or the model being wrong, etc. When I ran the VINs through google, I found every single car listed in different states than the eBay listing, usually at car dealers who were actively selling the vehicles. The eBay listings were all fire sale prices (30% of fair market value) "due to family problems" or some nonsense like that. PayPal or wire transfer only. The user got kicked off (three times with different IDs), but with $0.00 insertion fees, there is no deterrent to someone listing a totally bogus ad to see if they can scam someone.
