I have attached (I hope) a photo of a B16 that I am taking apart for inspection and a possible rebuild. There is a sub-plate that is not visible in the photo that attaches to the engine block at the motor mount and in turn has tapped holes to attached to the engine stand. The subplate is 1/2" mild steel.
The sub-plate has a series of counter sunk holes to fit various engines (in this case Alfa, Triumph and Volvos).
B16s are pretty nice engines, and worth salvaging (IMHO) in the interest of being original...up to a point. I draw the line when the cost of the rebuild becomes around 1.5X greater than the cost of buying a known good, complete B20 that includes carbs, manifolds, starter etc. (again just IMHO).

PS The bellhousing and flywheel can be removed with the crank in place as on the engine pictured.
