I just ordered the Bentley manual, it should be here Tuesday. 200 1993

"does it behave correctly, and NOT have power there when the key is left on after cranking?"

Yes, power when cranking, but returns to zero shortly after letting go of the key.

"how does OBD respond to pin 2 and pin 6 test"

I didn't get that far, I had to get back to work, I didn't see the CEL when cranking though. I did notice however that after cranking, immediately after I turned the key to OFF, the engine would jump and make the sound of trying to fire, but for just an instant. I would stop cranking, listen for the pumps, hear them shut off, and turn the key to off, POP. I know the engine was at rest from cranking before I turned the key to OFF. This happened three or four times.

"And check your coil with an ohmmeter, between terminals 1 and 15 (other wires removed) looking for something near 1 ohm, i.e. not open circuited"

I checked the resistance across 1 and 15 last night at Autozone (they're right down the street) and the primary and secondary check within spec, though the secondary was right at the low limit. I can't remember exactly what the number was, but it definitely was in spec. According to Fred's stepbystepvolvo page, both sides of the coil, 1 and 15, should have 12VDC with the key on. With the wire routed blue to 15 and red-white to 1, I have 12VDC at 15 and 3VDC at 1. Does this signal a bad coil? Could I have killed it wiring it wrong?

My wife has to work until 8:00 central tonight, and I'll be watching my boys, so I won't be able to get out and check anything until after 8:30 when she gets home. Until then, how do you get that italic font when quoting me? It's these kinda important things that keep me up at night. ;)
