Engine advice 200

Hi folks..
I just got a 1983 245 with its factory B23F that was "run out of oil". The engine turns over with the ignition switch, and that is as much as I know. I also just bought a 1988 B230F out of a 740 for cheap. Would you rebuild (rings, mains, gaskets, etc.) one engine vs. the other, and why? What should I look for when making the decision of one engine over the other? This is my 5th Volvo in the line up, so I'm not in a big rush to have to get it running right away. Any input will be appreciated. Thank you..
