Touring a room full of old Volvs, and a possible 142 purchase 140-160

Hi all,

Last Saturday, I got a long-awaited tour of a local Volvo nut's storage room. It contained 8 cars: a Porsche 911T, 3 Volvo 1800s, 1 240, 1 544, and 2 140s (plus the guy has 6 more at his house!). The owner is looking to find a "good home" for a couple of the cars.

I was eyeballing a '74 142 w/manual tranny and mechanical fuel injection. Stored inside for years, dead straight and rust-free body, all trim and lenses present, serviceable interior. "Ran great and was a joy to drive" says the owner. $500.00.

His only caveat: "May need a fuel pump". I notice that neither IPD or FCP Groton lists a pump for this car.

For the price, I should probably just go for it. But what warning signs should I look for? If the injection system is problematic, can it be converted to a Weber?

I've owned 5 240s and know them well, but have no experience with 140s. Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.
