You probably are also aware of the 940. It is almost as simple as the 240, and some of the comfort of the 960. Better cargo capacity than the 850/V70. I really like my 940 turbo. 1995 is the last year in the USA. I would also agree that essentially any $3000 car will need $1-2K of work done soon after purchasing, so plan accordingly.
