Single pump in tank intermittent 900 1995

Hi all,the single in-tank pump in my wife's '95 940T wagon decided to quit yesterday with no warning. She parked for a a few minutes, tried to start later and it went from starting and dying to not starting. No fuel pressure. Had it towed home-the pump measured 500K ohms.:( Got the hatch off and with my ohmmeter clipped to the pump connector, started tapping on the pump/sender housing near where the wires emerge from the rubber seal.Resistance dropped in stages down to below 10 ohms or so. The car started and ran! Anyone had any experience like this.possibly a bad solder joint? Advance Auto Parts has an "Airtex" pump for $127 in stock-I know I should replace pump-any advice? Car has 185K miles. My Bosch two-pump '94 944T has 220K still pumpin' strong!
Thanks,sredwine
