oil weight confusion 200 1993

'93 240 wagon - possibly 200K; not sure.

Told by many in Chicago to use 5W30 ALL YEAR ROUND.

Obviously 5 weight is great for the cold Chicago winters - 30 seems low for the hot summers. I change my oil about every 4 months, so some changes in oil weight are possible to follow the seasonal temperatures.

Know that for the past 2 years since I bought the car, I've been only using 5W30 and have NOT had any problems - I don't have a working ac, but w/ no problems perhaps the 30 weight thickness is enough for summer and the 5 weight isn't too thin for summer.
