Alternator Wiring 444-544

I'm using a B20 from a 1974 142 for my PV444 project.

When I pulled the B20 about three years ago I brought along the SEV/Motorola alternator, the regulator (French) and two sets of wires. I did not take good notes on how the wires hook up. So I'm looking for some help.

The wires from the alternator to the regulator are green and red. On the regulator end the green one has a ring connector and the red one a spade connector. I see where they go. On the alternator end of those wires the green one has a spade connector and there is a spade connector on the alternator at about 2 o'clock seen from the rear. So I see where it goes. The red one has a ring connector on the alternator end. I am wondering where it goes. I see three possibilities - one at about 5 o'clock (closest to the spade where the green wire went), one at about 7 o'clock and one at about 11 o'clock.

The other wires are a heavy red one and a smaller red one, bound together with shrink wrap. I see the terminal where the large one goes (about 9 o'clock) - I expect it is the output from the alternator. But I am wondering about the small one. Can someone tell me which of the three small terminals it would go onto and what it is for.

One more question (I know its a dumb one, but that's how it is) - I have not yet looked at the wiring for the output, but I expect it will somehow go to the ammeter and then to the battery. How will the 12/14 volts affect my 6 volt 444 ammeter? Can I just use it with the higher voltage (fewer amps, I guess) or do I need to change it somehow? I would like to retain the ammeter function.

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.
