sending unit reading full 200 1991

Just replaced my intank fuel pump and new sending unit a couple days ago. Fuel guage is reading full, high as it can go. There is probably about 3/4 tank of fuel. To cold to open it back up til next weekend. I can't believe the ball float is stuck in the full tank position. Anyone know what else would cause this situation? Faulty sensor disconnected wire? TIA
