Main Fuel Pump Leak 200 1991

Hi, I am having a problem with fuel leaking from the main fuel pump. I first thought that perhaps my fuel line was rusted and causing the leak, however upon inspection, I noticed that fuel was accumulating on the supporting bracket under the pump and filter. I was hoping that the leak was coming from one of the hoses to the fuel pump, thinking it would be a quick fix. I decided to have my local mechanic take a look. He said that the fuel was not leaking from the hoses, but rather from the body of the fuel pump that is conceal by the mounting clamp. He said that it is likely that some moisture managed to get in between the pump body and clamp which caused it to rust through.

I have done a search as well as looked through the FAQ but could not find anything related to leaks caused by rusting of the fuel pump. I have had fuel lines leak due to rust but never experienced such a problem with the fuel pump itself. Other than the leak, the pump runs great.

Has anyone experienced such a problem and is there any way to repair it (I suspect unlikely)?

Thank you for your help and comments.
