Lost key for the locking gas cap

The key for the locking gas cap broke off of my keyring who-knows where. And, of course, the tank is on "super-empty, seriously you need gas!" I noticed the key missing when I stopped to fill up when the tank said, "Sir, you are verily near running out of gas, please stop and refill me as quickly as time permits."

Anyone have any luck getting these off? I'd drive to a locksmith, but I'm afraid the car won't make it. What are some ways that you guys have tackled this problem?
