FUEL PUMP, IT'S RELAY, AND WIRING 200 1983

Hey Guys!

I just bought an '83 240GL as a backup car. It's not running but for $200, it was worth it. The car recently died on the previous owner. His story is that it was driving fine, then began running sluggish and sputtering like it was running out of gas, so he put gas in it, and it wouldn't start when he went to leave the station. I thought he fried the pump, so I boneyarded one and installed it along with a new filter. Still no go. I decided to check relays and wiring before dropping $150 on a new pump, and I discovered the following:

The relay is clicking and routing power when I position the key to on. It get power to #86 and #30 with key in the on position, and send power to #87

The blade fuse near the battery is fine, and current gets past it.

The #5 (tank pump) fuse gets no power. Ever. If I jump it with power from any other powered fuse, it the main pump runs. Prior to this the fuel line from the tank to the pump was bone dry after runnning the main pump for a few seconds, I was getting fuel in the line. I know the main pump would draw fuel even if the tank pump was dead, but why would the main pump run only when power gets sent to the tank pump? Are they wired in line?

The wires leading to the left side of the #5 fuse are 2 Yellow and Red wires. A third smaller gauge Red and Yellow wire runs out the right side of the fuse, I believe to the relay. My test light showed a faint light on the relay end when power is jumped to the #5. Where do those two larger guage wires feed from and why would they not be getting power?

This is my first adventure with the Volvos, and I've gotten alot of helpful info from Brickboard already, I'm hoping you guy's will be able help me sort this out! Thanks in advance!!
