Cabin Heat Delayed 900

I'm having an odd problem with my '94 940 -- since the middle of
winter I've been having trouble getting the heat started in
my cabin. The thermostat is fine (new last year) and the the
engine temperature guage moves right up to the middle after starting.
However, unless I vigorously turn the temperature control knob,
I don't get heat in the cabin. Once the heat starts, it's mostly ok,
'tho at idle it doesn't seem to be as warm as it should be.

Any ideas? Thanks.
