Driveshaft Center Bearing 900 1993

OK, my 93 945 non-turbo has a whine/growl when you first start off in the morning. I have replaced the tranny mount and the hydraulic mounts, though not new, seem to provide about a 1/4" gap (no more)at the oil pan and crossmember rubber pad. So, I've kinda ruled out motor or tranny mounts.

The whine/growl, which is worse as the temperature drops, goes away or gets lots quieter after about 10 minutes of driving. I was thinking driveshaft center bearing, right? So, I crawled under there and unbolted the support from the bracket and took the bracket off. The thing spins real nice around the driveshaft, no obvious grease leaking out of it or roughness. Maybe the grease is dried up and it squeals until she heats up. I've ruled out, more or less, a rear wheel bearing, figuring that it would not shut up after driving, but always make noise. What do you guys think? Naturally, I'd like to use this baby for a 1200 mile round trip cause I need to get some cool stereo gear an old uncle gave me!

Mike
