Testing for Spark 200 1979

Weather is better. Finally took the coil wire off the distributor and stuck a spark plug on that end and while remote cranking held the plug against the exhaust manifold and I got spark. Still will not fire however. The connections at the starter are tight. I don't think the fuel filter is clogged because I just changed that a year ago and some fuel would still be getting through. Again, this '79 was running fine when parked and then would not fire a few hours later. What other possibilities could it be?
