Tire Sizes 1800 1972

The '72 E and ES were both originally equipped with 185/70-15 tires on a 5.5" wide slotted steel wheel. This tire size is very hard to find these days, but not impossible... Vredestein produces a tire in this spec, but you will pay large money (~$150 per tire).

At typically about half that price, the more modern 195/65-15 will undoubtedly fit, as the original 185/70 Swedish Goodyears actually measured closer to a 195mm cross section anyway. The 195/65 is also very close to the same diameter as the originals. As an aside, I've also personally used 195/60-15's on my 1800ES, but they are about 4% smaller diameter than the original tire.
