Summer coming--1991 R134a retrofit 200 1991

i've downloaded volvo's instructions for r134a retrofit but unfortunately the instructions is a bit less than clear. please bear in mind this is for a 1991 retrofit.

the question in short is: do i need to drain the mineral oil in the system then refill with ester oil, or simply add ester oil to the accumulator?

the page 15 of volvo service bulletin seems to suggest that if you don't plan to replace the compressor, you just add ester oil to the accumulator. can someone confirm or refute this? thanks.
