Faint engine clicking when accelerating 200 1993

Well, I have done a little more snooping. I haven't noticed any of the residue that was mentioned around the header. The noise really seems to be coming from around the valve cover area.

Here is one more piece to the puzzle. The noise comes and goes. It seems to be more prevalent after the car has been running for awhile and the engine has warmed up.

However, I drove 100 miles today and there were a few times when it was not doing it at all. Driveability not affected, no engine codes, everything seems to be in ship shape. Just that danged clicking noise... :-7 Hmmmm...

Could it be the valves are within clearance limits when the engine is cold but go out of limits when it warms up? Just a thought and I am new at this.

Hope everyone is well!
Jon

P.S. I've been using premium gas since I bought the car though the guy before me may not have. I haven't tried the fuel cleaner yet but if it is safe to do so, I will.
