I posted a question asking possible problems for my check engine light/rough idle problems a while ago.
Basically what happened I had my exhaust system replaced from the Cat back. When I got the car back the check engine light was on and the car was running rough. I took the car back but the garage refused to investigate further. (This was not my regular mechanic).
The engine codes I received were 1-1-3 and 2-3-2. We checked everything possible and came to the conclusion that it was the 02 sensor.
I finally was able to get the car to my regular mechanic because I am planning on making a long road trip.
He confirmed that the O2 sensor was faulty and replaced it. Apparently the car is now reading new codes: 2-2-1 and 2-3-1. My mechanic seems to think that the ECU is fried.
Everything else is fine...injectors, fuel pressure regualtor, Air Mass Meter, etc.
He told me that when they welded the exhaust they probably did not disconnect the battery or something.....
I just checked what the "new" codes mean and they both seem to lead to the O2 sensor again.
The questions that I have are:
1. Is there anything else that could possibly be wrong with the car? It was running perfectly before the muffler change.
2. If it is in fact the ECU does any one know where I can find one for a '91 240 wagon? I think there may be specific numbers associated with each one (is that true?). I already contacted IPD but they do not sell ECUs.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....I am getted a tad frustrated.
My regular mechanic knows these cars inside out and backwards....but he has been out and his son has been working on the car....so I am not 100% sure he is correct in his diagnosis.
Thank you very much in advance.
