Speedometer question for Art Benstein... 200

Art,

Please excuse me for asking you a direct question, but I read your speedometer article on cleanflametrap.com, and you your level of knowledge on the subject is astounding!

I need to do an axle replacement on a '90 240 without ABS due to disintegrated pinion shaft bearings (folks, check the differential oil level on newly purchased 240 even if the pinion seal doesnt seem to be leaking - consider it just as important as crankcase oil). I have a good rearend from a '92 with ABS. I know the 1992's ABS unit uses the signal from the speed sensor in the differential before it goes to the instrument cluster, and that their differentials have more teeth on the timing wheels (correct terminology?) than non-ABS rear ends.

If I swap the axles and replace the speedometer in the '90 with the speedometer from the '92, am I likely to get an accurate speed measurement?

Thanks!

Glen
