86 240 is dead.... 200

Son was driving the 86 240 GL and says the radio quit, then the battery light, then the brake failure light, but it continued to run (I was thinking back to the 84 Honda I had where the timing belt went and lost all power immediately). When he turned it off at home, not a bit of power...was thinking alternator, but jumping it did absolutely nothing. Battery is not more than three years old and it hasn't been driven that much. One dead Volvo for sale. Anyone have any thoughts, at least ones that could be shared in church, baptist church?
