close call this morning 200 1993

I was driving to work this morning and I had gone about 3 miles when the temp gauge went quickly towards the red zone. I threw the heat on high, smacked the dash(like that ever helps)and then had to pull over.
Of course it's pouring rain.I opened the hood to find the upper radiator hose had popped off the radiator outlet. It ended up breaking a piece off of the outlet plastic.Maybe I tightened the hose too much last month when I did my belts and hoses. I had a good inch left with though.
Called work, they came and picked me, went to the local NAPA for coolant.attached the hose to the remaining outlet piece and filled the system and was back in business.
I don't feel like buying a new radiator right now.Is there a McGuiver method for repairing the plastic outlet ?
Thanks, sorry for the ramble...
