Smoke on 93 Volvo 940 turbo 900 1993

Check the diaphragm in the compressor bypass valve (CBV)-- if it perforates, you will get major smoke. When mine went bad on my '92 945T it smoked like crazy. You can test it by applying vacuum to the nipple where the vacuum line attaches.

I haven't been able to find the diaphragms anywhere in the US or Canada for a reasonable price, although there was someone from Taiwan selling them on e-bay some time ago for around $40.

Good luck!
