Large rectangular headlight - 2 bulb versus 1 bulb? sharp light beam cut-off? 200 1979

My 1979 244GL originally had the very large rectangular headlights each with a single dual-filament 60W hi-beam/55W lo-beam H4-base bulb. One of these got damaged and I cant find any in the pick-n-pull so the Volvo stealer says he can only sell me (at increased cost) a 2-bulb headlight that has a H1-base bulb and a H-4 base bulb, with an adaptor to convert the H-4 plug to fit H1 bulb.

I think he said that this was for a 264 car but will fit a a 244, but he said that this has an internal "metal separator" to provide sharp light "cut off" so was a superior headlight. Is this some Volvo or dealer gimmick or is he attempting to dump obsolete stock on me or is it some night driving safety issue? Dual-filament bulbs still seem in use on most brands of cars. I dont want to be ripped off.
