HIgh Revs when put into park after highway drive? ? ? IAC valve? 200

Hello Brickers,

My 90 240 has developed a recent problem. While driving on the highway, I noticed that the car seems to rev higher than normal after about 100 kms per hour. Almost seems likes it's trying to shift gears but can't.

At stoplights etc. the car idles fine, but when I reach where I'm going and put it in Park, the idle revs higher than my normal idle, and keeps revving high at a constant rate until I turn the car off. On restart, it starts and runs fine but repeats if I drive on the highway at higher speeds.

Could this be the idle air control valve? Transmission related?

Any thoughts would help?
