89 740 Turbo wagon radio or amplifier bad? 700 1989

I have located the amplifier on this car, and all is connected ok. The radio appears to work, with display, etc, but still no sound. Anyone know the various output levels (using a volt-ohm meter) so I can check the plugs at the amp to see if the radio is actually dead/disconnected behind the dash or amp is dead? The connectors on the amp are one round, the other rectangular.
I tried to pull the radio from the dash, but it sure seems in there for good. I pulled the knobs, etc, just can't seem to get the plate to pull free.
Thanks for all your help.
Tyler
