FIXED 200 1991

Finally had some time off of work and the weather warmed up. So after much playing around,my new sending unit from FCP Groton was defective. Here is how. The ground and power wires that attach to the pump were reversed. The major problem was the ground that attaches to the top of the unit (although it looked good) was not attached.
The last problem was the power coming into the sending unit at the plug from the harness. One line measured 10 volts the other measured 13 volts. If i plugged the unit in the way the plug fits together, the 10 volts was going to the pump therefore pump wasn't running. Swithced the wires so 13 went to the pump and 10 vent to the fuel gauge and everything is fine. That was one heck of a long sending unit pump repalacement Thank God the car ran ok with just the main pump, although i don't drive that far and i kept the tank about 3/4. Hope somebody else learns something here.
