rear bilsteins thump 200

I have bilsteins on both of my 240's,an 87 and 90.On both cars the rear shocks sound as if they are loose, they are not.when hitting even small bumps I get this thumpimg, knocking sound. Is there a way of shimming the shock bolt?what to use and how thick? If not I may just replace with KYB rear shocks. Are all KBY's the same performance, white color or grey? Please note both cars have new rear bushings and IPD sways.Any sugeestions?
