Tail Light Trunk Leak 700 1990

I have a 1990 760. I have had a small trunk leak for some time. I improved it considerable by pressing a small dia. wire into the mounting channel and putting it back on the rail. This effectively raised the gasket the thickness (1/8 inch)of the wire. I am still getting some water in the wells on either side.

I got in the truck tonight and had my brother spray with lid with a hose. No water at all around the gasket but we found water coming in the tail lights. I am thinking about pulling the lights off and sealing it with silicon?

Anyone had this issue and how did you fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Hawkeye
