A few weeks back I swapped out my large clock for the large tach (with flat finish) and small clock. The tach worked as it should but the clock didn't. I left it for several weeks since I had no time and then just two nights ago I though I would investigate the problem.
I removed the clock and tested it directly on the battery and it didn't work. I neglected to cover up the loose wires at the clock and after driving yesterday with the exposed wires, I noticed the clock bulb would erratically light up (note that I left the bulb in the socket, not in the clock). I turned the lights switch off and it still was lit. It even stayed lit after I turned off the power. So I unplugged the "-" battery terminal to be safe.
Later in the evening I wanted to investigate so I did another check on the clock to see if it was just due to reversed wiring. Once the battery terminal was back, I checked the clock and it still wasn't working. GRRR. Then, I noticed I had no lights on my instrument panel, my center console or at my shifter. GRRR x 2. I immediately checked the fuse panel and no blown fuses. I then checked the dimmer switch and nothing happened. I also checked my center console switches and they all lit up. Note also that the instrument panel gauges all were functioning (tach, fuel & temp). Strange? I wasn't prepared to fiddle with this at that time of night so I just gave up.
I am guessing I must have fried or damaged a lighting wire connection somehow.
Looking for some suggestions? Thanks everyone!
