steering wheel cover loose 700

1990 745T 204,000 mi. automatic. The steering wheel cover is no longer binding to the underlying material - steel?- from about 1:00 to 3:00 on the steering wheel. That is where I put my right hand while driving. I am right-handed. The soft -rubber?- covering is loose there. This makes itself known by some rotational freedom about the underlying presumably steel ring of the steering wheel. There is no movement of the cover further up or down along the underlying ring, just some rotational looseness.

Is there a fix for this? I was thinking of injecting glue through the soft rubber cover to get the rubber to re-bond to the steel underneath. I am assuming the cover is rubber and the steering wheel itself is steel underneath.

Anyone else ever see this? I found nothing on this in the FAQ. Wait a minute - there are postings on this from June of 2002. Did anybody have any added results after that? Sounds like adhesive injection is the way to go. Thanks.
