Oil and water crankcase goo; is this just from condensation?

Photobucket

1991 745T 245K

We have owned this car for about 8 years and put 150K on it. I was startled to find this goo on the dipstick when checking the oil.

I immediately thought that the original headgasket had finally let go. The coolant is clean and the system holds pressure for a very long time after shutdown.

I drained the oil and there is no evidence of any of this substance in the crankcase oil, just tons of it in the dipstick tube. I made a ram rod tipped with cloth and cleaned out the dipstick tube.

This car hasn't seen a good long highway run in some time. Is this just evidence of moisture that has collected in the crankcase and not been boiled off or am I missing something?
