Cranking-no start-already checked the basics 200

I have a 1989 Volvo 240 auto non-turbo that for the past 20k has been perfect. Tonight in a parking lot it would not start but would crank. I did not have much time to mess with it and had someone pick me up. Here is what I was able to do I was just looking for a little guidance as to what to do in the morning and what to bring.

1. Car is cranking strong no firing.

2. All fuses are good. I pulled the 25amp under the hood and it looked fine. I re-did the wiring and fuse 20k ago so it should be fine.

3. Replace fuel pump relay with backup fuel pump relay.

Thats all I really had time for. I'm not sure if the pump ran. You know when you first get in the car it runs but then if it has pressure it will not run again. I did not pay attention the first time I cranked to see if it ran. So where do I go from here? My thoughts.

1. Listen for pump.

2. Jump fuses. How do you do that again?

3. Check for spark. What is the best way to do that on these cars?

Thanks for the help.
