Cleaning or Replacing 120-130

My 68 spent 20 years in a barn. This saved the body from serious rust damage but did not do anything good to the fuel tank. The tank was cruddy as heck and got worse as I flushed it with new fuel. The sender was also encrusted with crud. Not shellac-like, but more like calcification or something similar.

I was able to wire brush it clean but I had to be very careful not to damage the windings that made up the resistor part of the sender. I took it apart first and cleaned each component carefully. It came back okay and still functions well over two years after I resurrected it.

This is not the only alternative. You do have a fairly economical choice for a new VDO replacement...

I have not tried it yet, but several people in here have recommended it. At under $30.00 it is hard to go wrong.
