Very Strange Starting Phenomenon 200 1998

I've owned three 240's over the years and perform my own maintenance and repairs. These repairs have provided many unusual learning opportunities. I enjoy the process of trouble-shooting and the satisfaction of fixing something that probably should be in the boneyard.

My current ride is an 88' 240 Wagon that has starting issues. These are the symptoms I am seeing;

1.The car starts easily and reliably on cold days/mornings, say 40 degrees and lower.

2.The car starts very reluctantly on warmer days. I usually have to hold the accelerator fully down and even then it has to crank for a while before stumbling to a start. Too much fuel, not enough air.

3.I have cleaned the air mass meter, replaced the fuel pressure regulator, adjusted the throttle position sensor, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the coil, wires, plugs, replaced the fuse holder under the hood, checked the Hall Sensor and the air valve below the manifold. Temperature sensor was replaced with one from a running Volvo.

4.The engine appears to be getting lots of fuel on start up which is good when cold, not good when warm and leading to a flooded condition when the temps warm up. When starting has been a problem I have found the plugs to be soaked with fuel.

5. Car restarts easily after having been run and warmed up.

I'm sure I may have forgotten a thing or two but I am scratching my head on this one.
