think its a fuel delivery issue, pump i think. 140-160 1971

I have been trying to trouble shoot the no start with my wrecked 142, can someone confirm that the line I disconected and put in the beer bottle is indeed the in fuel line and not the return. The haynes I have says the line out the bottom of the fuel pressure reg is the out return line. After cranking for awhile I get no fuel in the bottle, the last couple times I had the car running it ran fine except for some noise from the pump. It was a humming noise that has gotten louder and louder since it was wrecked a year and a half ago, I still hear the pump turn on when the ignition is in the acessory position, Its getting to be a pain to push the damm thing up hill so I can roll the shell out to wet sand befor I epoxy primer seal it. Soon I'll be able to push a mack truck...

Am I right in thinking that theres one pump in a 142, just the external one to the right of the tank under the car. Or is it like a 240 with the in tank as well as the external pump.
Beer and cars do mix!
