240 tail light identification 200

Stopped by the Pick and Pull this week and found this set of tail lights on a 1983 240 coupe. It had died due to rust apparently.

A quick look at the internet using the Bosch part number came up with 1979 as the most common year. It was also listed as fitting up to 1983. Can anyone enlighten me as to what years it was originally fitted on? The attachment pattern is the same as the later 240's so there does not seem to be any reason for them not to fit any 240 (they would just leave a larger space in the area where the rear license plate is mounted.

They are in great shape and the metal "circuitry" certainly would be better than the later designed printed board.

One of them has two of the mounting studs broken off. I was thinking that perhaps those could be ground flat, carefully drilled and tapped to accept new studs. Any other ideas for a repair??
