240 GL Removing Driveshaft for towing 200 1989

I've just purchased an '89 240GL (automatic transmission) and I need to tow it home. Common sense and fear of tranny damage tells me to remove the driveshaft before towing. Any tips or tricks to be aware of on the removal and reinstallation of the driveshaft? How long will it take to drop it, as it's cold out here!
