think its a fuel delivery issue, pump i think. 140-160 1971

I disconected the fuel in line under the hood and at the filter, blew it out with compressed air. No blocks, air flow was good. blew it into a container so I could check what is anything came out, just a bit of gas from the pump priming. Unhooked the pump and filter, blew out the filter which seemed open and unclogged. Checked out the hoses for gunk, nothing. Even opened the pump at the one end that has the 4 screws, all looked nice and shiny. Drained the tank and pulled out the in-tank screen, no debris in the screen and it's in great shape. Hooked everything back up, filled the tank with fresh gas and nothing...

Although by this time the rain had started up pretty good and I didn't get to check if the gas line under the hood had fuel to it, tomorrow I'll have to check that. How do I check and verify if the fuel pump relay is working? the haynes manual isn't to clear on that. So it's either the relay or the pump or something completly different. When I turn the ign. to the acessory position I hear the pump turn on for a second or two and after cranking the motor I can hear the pump shut off. So I'm not sure what to think now, the pump sounds smother since I tore it all apart today but she still won't run.
