Problem Solved - I LOVE this car! 700 1991

New mount came in at Volvo dealer, thank heaven. Will pick up this evening. Meanwhile, thought I'd pull the bumper off. Never did it before, and was scratching my head trying to figure out how to get wrench in there, before noticing that there are access panels in the bottom of the bumper. The access panels pop out by hand and are tied to the bumper with long nylon straps/hinges so you don't lose them when they are open (or, I guess, should they pop open while you are driving). With access panels out it was a breeze to get any kind of wrench I would want in there to remove bumper.

Total time to remove bumper, including head scratching, finding access panels, etc. - 12 minutes. By the clock. For a first timer with no experience in Volvo body work.

There are some very well designed cleats on the side of the body that engage tabs on the bumper to hold the bumper side pieces or sideburns in place, they release if you just pull the bumper out to the front. Incredibly good design. Great time saver, and well thought out.

Access to the bumper mounts/energy absorber shocks is very good too.

I love this car!
