B230 swap 700

Howdy all,

The fellow who posted this thread,
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1342468/740/760/780/memoriam.html asked me a question that I thought I should check on before telling him it will work.

He wants to know if the B230 I have will fit his 1991 740. Never having owned a 740, I thought I should check with the Brickboard.

The engine I have was passed to me. I was told it came from a late '80s 240. I think that all the cast in mounting points are the same. And, I am pretty sure that as long as he transfers the flex plate, harmonic balancer, and all the accessories and ancillaries over, the block should work just fine. Am I correct?

The only thing I can think of that might be a sore point would be the distributor. My engine has the distributor on the block. But, he could have his head reconditioned and swapped onto the block. Are there other considerations?
