No overdrive - continued... 700 1989

Finally got one day when I could check under the car. As the FAQ says, the solenoid location is filthy!

Having pretty much eliminated the relay and shifter switch, and tried jumping the relay, it was time to check the solenoid. I couldn't get all the way under the car (I'm getting too old and stiff), but I did find a white wire hanging off the solenoid...bare frayed end.

Two questions...

1. Has anyone tried splicing a new wire into the solenoid? The one I found appears to be about 18 guage.

2. I'd like input from anyone who's used IPD's bypass plate. I don't drive any really mountainous terrain. The car is intended as a daily driver in an urban/suburban environment.

Thanks for your help.
